Visit Spanish Point

It's A Long Long Way From Here to Clare

We recently had a 3-night stay in Co. Clare taking advantage of the first sunny week of 2025. We booked it all very last minute wanting to make the most of the good weather, and within an hour we had hatched a plan. Once we decided on Spanish Point as the destination, the rest was easy.

We stayed in the Armada Hotel that is situated overlooking the bay with Spanish Point beach a stones throw away. When we pulled into the hotel, we instantly knew that we had made the right choice. The grounds had tables and chairs overlooking the sea, it was a slice of heaven. It was bustling with couples, groups and people sitting in solitude taking in the spectacular view.

Our room was pleasant, clean with nice decor. The hotel has a selection of rooms and suites to choose from but early booking is recommended. There are two restaurants within the hotel, Aileens being the more formal option. The hotel also houses an old-style pub called Johnny Burkes that feels like stepping through the doors of days gone by. We caught some live music here which I’m sure is ramped up during the Summer months.

I would definitely recommend staying at the Armada Hotel, the service and atmosphere makes you feel right at home. There is other accommodation in the area and the Armada have recently opened The Armada House, a more exclusive refurbished boutique property adjacent to the hotel.
