A Shave Away From The Truth

Having done some research on dermaplaning, I am none the wiser as to the long term effects. This shaving phenomenon is rapidly taking the beauty world by storm with over 3.8 billion views on Tiktok to date. In truth, this treatment is more suited to younger women in their twenties or thirties who want to achieve that porcelain, doll-like skin. But there is online information suggesting it’s suitable for all ages, depending on skin types and issues of course.

So what is dermaplaning? It is the process where a small sharp blade, similar to a scalpel, is run across the face in small strokes. It removes any dead skin cells that have not shed naturally, unwanted derma-debris and the tiny ‘vellus’ facial hairs which are only visible when you go looking out for them. The result is smoother, brighter skin that’s pure and ready to soak in whatever hydrating & nourishing products take your fancy.

What are the risks? The biggest risk is the return of the fuzz. With mixed advice out there, some experts say that after continually dermaplaning the skin on your face, the vellus hairs will eventually stand out from the skin and begin to thicken. Other risks include infection, scarring, skin irritation and breakouts,Turned off yet?

Does dermaplaning last? It is recommended to repeat this treatment every 2-4 weeks as this is the length of time it takes old cells to reform and hairs to grow back. And at an average price of €65 to €80, this can be a pricey monthly cost.
In the last ten or more years, the world has become a much more vain place to live in. We want to look picture perfect at all times. But women who pierce, prod & inject their natural faces in their youth, may one day regret their choices when they find that they have become immune to most skin treatments, just when they need it most.

Why not focus on a beautiful mind rather than a beautiful face … it’s free, attainable & way more attractive!
